The deck was loaded for Person of the Year in entertainment. There simply weren't any other contenders who possessed super powers like Gal Gadot.
The 28-year-old model-turned-actress from Rosh Ha'ayin is poised for a Hollywood mega- career, with the announcement this year that she'll play to role of Wonder Woman in much hyped 2015 Ben Affleck- led Batman-Superman movie.
“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all,” director Zack Snyder said in a statement following the announcement of the casting. So it seems like a natural fit for him to choose a buff, IDF veteran to portray the fabled Amazonian princess warrior, and Gadot, the 2005 Miss Israel, certainly fits the bill.
No stranger to film screens around the world, Gadot is best known for her role as Gisele Harabo in The Fast and the Furious film series.

That high-profile role arrived in the aftermath of the successful photo spread Gadot and a handful of other Israeli models took part in for a Maxim magazine spread in 2007 on 'women in the IDF' – part of a multi-faceted effort by government and hasbara organizations to 'rebrand' Israel to present a face that presented the country 'beyond the conflict.'
And thanks to Gadot's success, the face of Israel has been expanded to include an intelligent, beautiful figurehead, one who exudes the positive qualities of her country while touting her "very Jewish and Israeli" family environment she grew up in. And instead of leaving her home for a Montana ranch, Gadot and her husband, businessman Yaron Varsano have retained their base in Israel.
Gadot is not only a modern Israeli role model, she stood up for women globally, scoffing at criticism that her svelte physique might not be voluptuous enough to portray Wonder Woman. "I represent the Wonder Women of the new world," Gadot said last week on Good Evening with Guy Pines.
But in addition to that superhuman task, Gadot is Person of the Year because of another far- reaching accomplishment - she represents the new Israel, one full of wonder women and men.
