Vanessa Paradis cancels Tel Aviv show

French singer's management says she has to be in US on concert date for important meeting; others speculate Paradis under political pressure.

French chanteuse Vanessa Paradis has cancelled her scheduledFebruary 10 show at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center.
According to promoter David Stern’s public relationsrepresentative Daniel Cohen, Paradis’s management notified Stern that thesinger and actress had to be in the United States on the concert’s date for animportant event regarding her film career, forcing her to cancel the show.RELATED:'Pixies' cancel Tel Aviv show'I'm still standing'
“We’re all in shock,” Cohen told The Jerusalem Post onSunday, adding that Stern was waiting to receive an official letter fromParadis regarding the cancellation.
Other sources close to the production speculated thatanother reason for cancellation may be political pressure on Paradis not toappear in Israel, but there was no confirmation of that theory.
The 37-year-oldsinger and actress, and significant other of Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp,has released 10 albums in her native France and broke out with an internationalhit in 1987 at age 14 with “Joe Le Taxi.”
In addition to a successful modeling career, Paradis hasalso enjoyed a thriving film career, appearing in over 10 films, most recentlystarring in Heartbreaker. Paradis hadbeen expected to arrive in Israel with Depp - her partner of 12 years - and their two children.
