17 killed when truck hits taxi in rural Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Haitian police stated Saturday 17 people died when a group taxi slammed into a truck on a blind curve in rural Haiti.
Police spokesman Frantz Lerebours said the accident occurred early Saturday in the southern peninsula town of Aquin.
Some Haitian radio stations reported the vehicles were both trying to avoid the charred remains of a flaming barricade set up by protesters during last weekend's presidential election.
