KABUL, Afghanistan — Two US soldiers were killed Friday in southern Afghanistan, where terrorists have stepped up their attacks as NATO and Afghan forces ramp up security in Taliban strongholds.

NATO said the two had died in an insurgent attack but did not provide further details. The American deaths brought to 33 the number of US troops killed so far this month.
