Two cars were engulfed in flames on Tuesday morning in the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem after an apparent theft attempt was unsuccessful, police said.

A third car was slightly damaged. Firefighters arrived on the scene and were able to contain the blaze to the three cars.

The police believe the first car burst into flames after the thief started the engine.

The thief fled the scene when the car caught on fire, though a police investigation is underway.
