Karmiel Police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the robbery of an IDF-issue firearm from a soldier. The suspect is a resident of the city and the theft appeared to be criminally motivated. The soldier told police that his attacker came from behind, hit him with a club several times, knocked him to the ground, stole the weapon and ran away. The soldier was lightly wounded in the alleged incident and was evacuated to a nearby hospital.
