A 48-year-old man burned to death early Sunday morning after he caught fire in unknown circumstances on a Haifa street.

Passersby in the city's Kiryat Eliezer were alarmed by the sight of a man going up in flames near a local public square. Suspecting a suicide attempt, they contacted MDA.

An emergency response team was dispatched to the scene to treat the man's severe burns, but he succumbed to them a short while later. His death was pronounced at the scene.
