A large brush fire erupted at the entrance to Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon and caused major traffic jams for motorists driving both in and out of the city.

Police were deployed to redirect vehicles through the Arizim Tunnel to Route 9, and motorists were advised to take alternative routes to avoid the gridlock.

Firefighters were eventually able to get the flames under control and traffic resumed its normal flow by late afternoon.
