6-year-old left in car in the Negev dies

A 6-year-old Beduin boy died on Thursday after being left in the trunk of a car in the Negev, Magen David Adom reported.

Paramedics were called to the scene on Route 25 near the Nevatim Junction. CPR was administered and the child was rushed to Beersheba's Soroka-University Medical Center in critical condition. The boy was later declared dead.The boy's mother said that the boy must have climbed into the trunk while she went to go shopping, Hebrew media reported.

The temperatures in the Negev on Thursday were as high as 34 Celsius (93 Fahrenheit).

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
