BEIRUT - UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan held a second round of talks with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus on Sunday, a United Nations spokesman said.

At their first meeting on Saturday the former UN chief appeared to make little progress in efforts to promote a ceasefire between security forces and Assad's opponents, win access for humanitarian aid and start a political dialogue.
