A man was arrested together with his son after a woman was thrown down a stairwell shaft, falling four floors in a Beersheba apartment building on Monday morning.

Police said both were both arrested on suspicion of being linked to the incident.

Magen David Adom paramedics said the woman was evacuated with multiple injuries to the emergency room of the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, where is hospitalized in serious conditions.

The man and his wife, both in their 50s, have no prior history of domestic abuse incidents, a Negev sub-police district spokeswoman said.

"We are investigating the circumstances of this incident," the police spokeswoman added.
