Bill on nat'l firefighting authority passes 1st reading

Nearly a week after the fire broke out in the Carmel, the Knesset plenum passed a preliminary reading of a bill to establish a national firefighting authority.
The bill, proposed by Interior Committee Chairman MK David Azoulay, has passed through several governments over the years, and establishes the framework for the firefighting authority as well as its duties and powers.
The bill passed with 41 supporters and no opponents.
