An IDF reconnaissance balloon crashed on Friday in Israeli territory near the Gaza Strip, after a fateful encounter with an agricultural aircraft.

No one was injured during the incident, which the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said is under review.

According to initial reports, the civilian aircraft likely cut the cable that works to suspend the balloon in the air.

The balloon itself is used by the IDF to monitor terrorist activities in the Gaza Strip, and as an early alert system.
