US Senator Michael Bennet (D) has narrowly defeated tea party Republican Ken Buck to retain his seat representing the state of Colorado with almost all the votes counted on Wednesday.

The near-assured victory for Bennet allows Democrats to hold onto a seat once viewed a prime opportunity for the Republicans to make gains. Bennet squeaked by Buck to victory with 47.5 percent of the vote as compared to Buck's 47.1% of ballots counted at the time of the report.
