The hit squad that killed Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai was tipped off by a senior Hamas official, Dubai's police chief, Lt.-Gen. Dahi Khalfan Tamim said in an interview with the Al-Jazeera television network on Thursday.

"There is clear-cut evidence that a person close [to Hamas leadership] leaked the sensitive information regarding Mabhouh's movements," he reportedly said.

The full interview will be aired on Friday evening, and is said to reveal many details on the investigation into Mabhouh's death.
