Egyptians protest at Israeli ambassador's residence

Dozens of Egyptians gathered in protest outside the Israeli ambassador's Cairo residence Monday night, calling for a severing of ties to the Jewish state, Al Ahram reported

The protest followed rumors and Muslim Brotherhood accusations that Israel was responsible for the terrorist attack Sunday, which took the lives of 16 Egyptian soldiers.

The Israeli embassy in Cairo closed after raids endangered its staff in September. It has yet to find a new home in the capital.
