IDF must take action against infiltrators to Joseph's tomb, haredi leader Rabbi Elyashiv told IDF Brig.-Gen. Nitzan Alon on Tuesday. He continued, "Infiltrators to Joseph's tomb are committing suicide."

Rabbi Elyashiv said entering the tomb without IDF escort violates halacha because it endangers both the infiltrators and Israeli soldiers. Nablus is PA controlled and has seen a considerable amount of violence when Jewish right-wingers have tried to sneak into the tomb.

Brig.-Gen. Alon met with Rabbi Elyashiv to seek a blessing from him as Alon and his family have suffered frequent harassment by right-wing extremist leaders who have called him a traitor and held him responsible for actions against settlers.
