Fifteen months for man who assaulted girlfriend

The Tel Aviv District Court sentenced a man to 15 months in prison on Wednesday, after he admitted charges of assaulting and threatening his girlfriend.
According to the indictment, the man, identified only as R.K., assaulted his 21-year-old girlfriend on several occasions and threatened to injure her.
On one occasion, R.K. called his partner a "whore and a slut" and slapped her face when she refused to cross a street on a red light, the indictment said.
On another, R.K. slapped his girlfriend around the face and threatened her, before punching a tree and injuring himself, saying "look what I'd do to you". He then struck the woman in the face again.
In court, R.K. apologized for his actions and admitted that he needed anger management treatment.
The court also handed down a 12 month suspended sentence and ordered R.K. to pay NIS 2,500 in compensation.
