Fine increased for illegally parking in disabled spots

In light of national awareness day for the respect of disabled parking on Sunday, the Knesset Economics Committee, headed by Minister Ophir Akunis, approved an increase in the fine issued to able-bodied individuals who illegally use disabled parking, according to a statement released by the committee.

The fine will be increased from NIS 500 to NIS 1,000, and the committee stated it will already enter into force on December 1.

Akunis said "the act of parking in a space designated for the disabled is anti-social and immoral. The most important thing is to leave disabled parking spaces for the disabled themselves."
