Former ‘Post’ editor takes State Department job

David Makovsky, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a former editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post and a world-renowned expert on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, has joined the US State Department as senior adviser to the special Middle East envoy.

According to the institute, Makovsky, who will be on leave from his position there as Ziegler distinguished fellow and director of its Project on the Middle East Peace Process, will help map strategy for the US team involved in the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
