PARIS — French Premier Francois Fillon says Europe is not yet clear of the financial crisis that has struck Greece and Ireland, and has pledged to keep France on a course of strict budgetary discipline.

Fillon says the crisis "will continue to evolve" and that Europe is threatened with economic stagnation and a crisis of over-indebtedness.

Fillon made the remarks Wednesday while detailing government policies to parliament. He said France will achieve 1.5 percent economic growth this year and the government's target of 2 percent growth next year is "clearly within reach."
