IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz canceled his trip to the United States due to the escalation of violence that erupted in the South.

Gantz was scheduled to meet with US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, and other senior US administration officials for talks on the Iranian nuclear threat.

He was also scheduled to attend a Friend of the IDF dinner.

Defense sources said Gantz would decide later in the week whether or not he could resume plans to visit the US.
