Gov't requests court extension on outpost demolitions

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak requested an extension from the High Court of Justice Thursday for submitting timetables detailing plans to demolish settlement outposts Amona and Givat Asaf. The plans were due to be presented to the court on Friday.
The government believes it can reach a consensus with the settlers in Amona following Givat Assaf's commitment to discuss the matter in good faith and through peaceful means. The court had previously ruled that these outposts must be removed because they are on privately owned Palestinian land and ordered the state to present a timetable for doing so within six months.
