An unknown gunman shot and killed a Bat Yam man on house arrest late Thursday night, after climbing a ladder to the man's window and shooting him several times in the upper body from close range.

Paramedics were called to the scene and rushed the victim to Wolfson Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds several hours later.

Police said the 27-year-old victim, whose name has not been cleared for publication, was well-known to police, but would not confirm if he was involved in organized crime or if the killing is part of an underworld feud.
