NAIROBI - Gunmen shot dead a British man in northern Kenya on Sunday after armed herders invaded a private ranch in the Laikipia area, two of the man's neighbors told Reuters.

The man was a father of two and a British cavalry veteran who ran a safari company, one of the neighbors said.

There have been a number of violent attacks in the area in recent weeks between local residents and armed cattle herders searching for grazing.
