LONDON - Britain is prepared to evacuate any UK nationals stranded in Syria, Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Tuesday.

"There about 700 British nationals who are registered with us in Syria," Hague told parliament. "We do have contingency plans for their evacuation."

Britain has advised its nationals to leave Syria.
