Hamas' political leader Khaled Mashaal was set to meet Wednesday with Egyptian Intelligence chief Murad Muwafi, Israel Radio reported.
The two were expected to discuss a prisoner exchange deal to free IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, Israel Radio reported the Egyptian paper Al Hayat
as saying. Egyptian newspaper Al Masryoun
reported that Mashaal flew to Cairo to discuss certain Israeli objections to the prisoner swap, for example, the release of convicted terrorists Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Sa'adat. Those are just two of approximately 150 prisoners who Israel, if it were to release them from prison, would not allow to return to the West Bank.
Rather, they would either be confined to Gaza or banished from Israel and the Palestinian territories altogether, according to the Israel Radio report.
