The head of the Witness Protection Authority, Aryeh Lavne, tendered his resignation to Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch on Wednesday night following a long-standing argument over how the Authority should be run.

A statement by the Public Security Ministry described the argument as a "professional difference of opinion," adding that Aharonovitch was working to find a replacement.
