The threat of a US strike against Syria is "organized terrorism," Lebanese Shia organization Hezbollah said in the first statement since calls for military action against Syria began, AFP reported on Friday.

"US aggression against Syria, or the threat of it, is... organized terrorism and threatens the region and its people," the group said, warning any military action against Syria would pose a threat to "regional and international peace and security."

The group said calls for military action against Syria were intended to "support Israel and tighten the grip of Western colonialism on the region."
