High Court to debate Disengagement Pardons Law

A panel of nine High Court judges, led by Supreme Court president Dorit Beinisch, is to debate Sunday a petition submitted by left-wing activists asking the court to repeal the "Disengagement Pardons Law" on the grounds that it is discriminatory.
The Pardons Law was proposed to the previous Knesset by current Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin. It was passed a year and a half ago by a vote of 51 to 9.The law determined that those arrested and charged during disengagement protests would be pardoned for all but the most severe offenses, and applies to all those without prior criminal records.
