Tel Aviv mayor was slammed by Shas party members for comments made during a conference regarding the haredi education system.

Ron Huldai called for civil unrest on part of the secular population against what he regarded as an impossible situation where one sector is financing the other. The separate haredi sector "endangers Israel's social and financial strength", he added.

Shas regarded his comments as racist and inflammatory.
