IDF confirms air strike which killed Palestinian in Gaza

The IDF confirmed early Sunday morning an air strike Saturday overnight which Palestinians said killed one 24-year-old male, Israel Radio reported.

The attack was designed to prevent terrorists from firing a rocket into Israel from  the Zeitoun neighborhood of eastern Gaza, according  to the IDF.The Palestinian man died as a result of the strike, according to medical sources in Gaza, bringing the death toll for Palestinians over the weekend to 16.

The IAF strike was part of a weekend long campaign by the IDF in reaction to ongoing rocket fire in the Gaza Strip, and the threat of terrorist attacks against civilians, the IDF said.

The Palestinian man's death brought the death toll for Palestinians over the weekend to 16.
