The Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) turned to the public Monday with a request to use heavy duty appliances in the early morning hours or late evening hours rather than during peak time over the next few days.

The extreme heat wave passing over the country is expected to push the IEC's capacity to the limit and the company fears that if consumers use their appliances between 12 and 5 p.m. it could lead to blackouts.

The company urged the public to do laundry, use the dishwasher or the vacuum  machine, the oven or an electric stovetop in the early morning or late evening to distribute use more evenly. It also urged that air conditioners be set to 25 degrees Celsius.
