Iran declared Wednesday that it would continue with its uranium enrichment program despite recent UN sanctions, Reuters reported.

A top Iranian official announced that 17 kilograms of uranium had been enriched to 20 percent purity, reinforcing the West's fears of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization explained that Teheran has the capability to produce five kilograms of enriched uranium a month, reported the Iranian Student News Agency.
