Iran arrests Kurds suspected as rebels tied to UK

TEHERAN, Iran — Iran says it has arrested four people suspected as members of a British-linked cell blamed for at least five killings since 2008.

Iran's Intelligence Ministry claims the men are part of an Iranian Kurdish rebel faction known as Komala. The group has been accused of waging sporadic attacks for decades in a campaign for Kurdish autonomy.

Iranian officials on Thursday gave no further details on the alleged slayings.

Iran claims the men were based in northern Iraq and received orders from a Komala commander going by the name Jalil Fattahi, who lives in Britain.

Violence has increased recently in Iran's western Kurdish region. In September, a bombing killed 12 people at a military parade in the Kurdish city of Mahabad.
