Iran considering request to free German journalists

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says the country's judiciary is considering a request from Germany to release two journalists detained in connection with a highly publicized stoning case.
Ramin Mehmanparast said Tuesday there is possibility that the two Germans may temporarily reunite with their family for Christmas but insisted that the request was still under consideration.
The two journalists, who had entered the country on tourist visas, were arrested while interviewing the son and lawyer of 43-year-old Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who has been sentenced to death by stoning for adultery.
