Iraq to pay damages to Americans mistreated during Gulf War

Iraq has agreed to pay reparations to Americans who claim they were mistreated by Saddam Hussein's regime during the first Gulf War in 1990-91, Reuters reported on Saturday.
The total payout was expected to be some $400 million which Iraqis say will help lift UN sanctions against the country which remain from Hussein's regime.
The former US soldiers who are scheduled to receive payment in the deal were captured by Iraq during the war and used as human shields and tortured.
