Israel sends generators to Cyprus

A ship carrying some 10 generators able to provide five megawatts of electricity set sail from Haifa to Cyprus Tuesday evening, in an effort to relieve the electricity shortage caused by a massive blast Monday some 65 kilometers northeast of Nicosia that knocked out one of the country's major power stations.
Following a phone conversation Monday between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Cypriot President Dimitris Christofias, it was determined that the aid the country most needed from Israel were generators.Monday's blast was caused when confiscated Iranian armaments exploded in a navy base on Cyprus' southern coast.
Last December, Cyprus sent a helicopter and a plane to Israel to help it fight the Carmel Forest fire.
