Israel transfers cars to Gaza Strip for first time

Israel facilitated the transfer on Monday of 20 private cars into the Gaza Strip for the first time since Hamas’s rise to power in 2007, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced.
The cars were transferred via the Erez Crossing and went to the private sector, COGAT said in a statement.
The decision to allow cars into Gaza is part of Israeli government policy to ease up restrictions on the type of merchandise and goods allowed into the Gaza Strip.
