Israeli-Arab film producer and political activist Juliano Mer-Khamis was shot dead in Jenin on Monday, Palestinian Authority security sources said.

The sources said that masked gunmen fired several shots at Mer-Khamis, 52, at the theater he had founded in the Jenin refugee camp.Mer-Khamis was rushed to the Jenin Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mer-Khamis was born in Nazareth to a Jewish mother and an Israeli Arab Christian.
