Israeli rhythmic gymnast wins bronze medal at worlds

Neta Rivkin became the first Israeli to win a medal in the world rhythmic gymnastics championships with a bronze medal this week.

Rivkin, 20, came in third in the hoop individual final at the 2011 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Montpellier, France. Russian Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva took the gold and Russian Daria Kondakova won the silver.

Rivkin, who also finished seventh overall in the ball final, is attempting to gain a spot representing Israel in the 2012 Olympics in London.
