A brush fire that broke out in the Valley of the Pines (Emek HaArizim) near Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon destroyed some 60 dunams (15 acres) of forest land, leaving the area a smoldering, charred black after firefighters eventually subdued the flames.

In addition to local firefighter crews, the Jewish National Fund, which administers most of the forest land around Jerusalem, sent four of its firefighter teams to the scene as well. Additionally, an airborne firefighter unit helped crews on the ground by spraying the area with water from a small plane above.
