American Senator John F. Kerry (D-Massachusetts) head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is visiting Israel and will meet with the country's leaders on Tuesday, including President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and opposition leader Tzipi Livni. 

Kerry is also expected to hold a press conference in the afternoon.

He was formerly the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, but lost to former US president George W. Bush in the 2004 election.
