Jordan's Wadi Rum added to UNESCO World Heritage List

Jordan's Wadi Rum area was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List on Saturday, The Jordan Times reported on Sunday.
The protected heritage area joined other Jordanian sites on the list, including the Nabataean city of Petra, the Byzantine ruins of Um Rasas and the Umayyad palace of Quseir Amra.
“This win is considered as a recognition for Jordan and its heritage, and will have a great impact on the country’s tourism sector,” Jordanian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Haifa Abu Ghazaleh told The Jordan Times Saturday.
She also said that the ministry is currently trying to lobby for the Dead Sea to be voted as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
