Justice Ministry: No indictments in Tristan Anderson case

The Justice Ministry on Sunday said no indictmentswill be handed down in the case of an American activist who wasseriously injured in a violent protest against the security barrierin Ni'lin last March.

Tristan Anderson of Oakland, California, was struckin the head by a tear gas canister during a demonstration in the WestBank village. Palestinians were throwing rocks, and security forcesfired tear gas and rubber-coated bullets.

Justice Ministry spokesman Ron Roman said Sunday thata police investigation showed there was no criminal intent in harmingthe 38-year-old Anderson, who was left comatose. Hospitalrepresentatives would not comment on his condition Sunday.

Human rights activists complain that few casesagainst Israeli security forces are prosecuted.
