Bat Yam Mayor Shlomo Lahiani will be released to house arrest for a period of eight days, the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court ruled on Tuesday evening. He will also be banished from the Bat Yam Municipality building for twenty days. Lahiani is under police investigation on suspicion that he abused his position in order to promote friends and relatives to high-earning jobs, engaged in fraud and approved construction in Bat Yam for purposes of monetary gain.
