Lebanese man suspected of spying for Israel

BEIRUT  — A Lebanese newspaper said authorities detained a senior employee at one of the country's two cellular phone companies Thursday on suspicion of giving security information to Israel.
The daily Ad-Diyar said the man was detained for supplying Israel with "sensitive information."
A Lebanese security official confirmed the arrest Sunday but refused to give details about a possible link to the phone company. He spoke on condition of anonymity because no official statement was made. Israel had no comment.
Since last year, Lebanese authorities have arrested more than 50 people suspected of collaborating with Israel, most in suspicion of giving information about the Hizbullah.
