Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri called on officials in Tehran on Tuesday to prevent sectarian strife in the region, in part to thwart any gains by Israel, the Beirut-based Daily Star report.

At the conclusion of a two-day visit to Iran, Berri highlighted the “necessity of confronting the plan to spark strife in the region" between Sunnis and Shi'ites. He added that the eruption of regional strife would primarily benefit Israel, The Daily Star cited him as saying.
