Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Monday called his Cypriot counterpart Markos Kyprianou to tell him that Israel shares the grief of the Cypriot people after a huge blast emanating from an Iranian arms cache killed 12 people.

The explosion happened at a military base where confiscated Iranian arms were being held and shut down the island's largest power station, the official Cyprus News Agency said.

Lieberman offered Cyprus Israel's full assistance in recovering from the blast.
