Opposition leader Tzipi Livni made an appearance at a protest of Israelis of Ethiopian descent outside the Nir Etzion School in Petah Tikva. Protesters were criticizing the city for not closing the school and integrating the near-total Ethiopian student body to surrounding schools.
"Your struggle is not only the struggle of Ethiopians; it is the struggle for all of us in Israel," Livni said, adding "They tell you everything will be fine, and it will take time but for these kids...we cannot wait."
Livni mentioned the value of Israel's melting pot, and said that the children of new immigrants and long-time citizens must learn in the same institutions.
